1 – Meet the Adorable Baby Hippo Born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
January 18, 2017 • There’s a new Nile hippopotamus on the block. Disney’s Animal Kingdom announced the arrival of a new baby hippo, born to mom Tuma on Jan. 13. The baby calf, who has not yet been named, has been given time to bond and nurse with Tuma, according to Disney’s animal care specialists, so the “gender and weight may not be known for some time.” A newborn calf typically weighs between 60 and 110 pounds. January 21, 2017 • Disney has so many remakes planned that a few of them have become lost in the shuffle. However, one of the remakes we haven’t heard from in a while is back in the news, indicating a strong move forward. It’s been years since it was announced that Disney’s Sword in the Stone would receive a live-action remake, but now the project may be very close to locking in a director, specifically Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, director of the zombie thriller 28 Weeks Later. 3 – Dad’s Plea for Kidney During Disney World Trip Results in Transplant in NY
January 20, 2017 • The single father of five who wore a “In Need of Kidney” T-shirt to Disney World over the summer underwent a kidney transplant last week in New York. Robert Leibowitz, 60, of New Jersey, never imagined how magical his family’s vacation trip to the Magic Kingdom would be after securing a kidney from a stranger– thanks to another stranger’s viral Facebook post about his special hand-made T-shirt. Leibowitz suffered from chronic kidney disease and was going to dialysis three days a week. He had been in need of a kidney for three years, Inside Edition reported. Read More
4 – Walt Disney World Offers Discounted Tickets to Military Members
January 21, 2017 • Walt Disney World is saying thank you to members of the military by offering them a discount on theme park tickets. Select U.S. military personnel have the option of purchasing a discounted 4-day military promotional ticket or a 5-day military promotional ticket. Tickets are available now through December 15th. The 5-day ticket is $246 plus tax, while the 4-day ticket is $226 plus tax. Guests have the option to add the park hopper option for just $40 more, plus tax. Read More
5 – Service Dog Over the Moon after Meeting Disney’s Pluto
January 21, 2017 • Atlas, a service dog with a stuffed Pluto toy at home, experienced a little magic during one his weekly trips to Disney World. The golden retriever was visiting the amusement park with his owner Julian Gavino and met a giant-sized version of his favorite character at Magic Kingdom. Atlas likes nothing better than chomping on his little stuffed yellow Pluto, Gavino told ABC News, a toy that Atlas “loves so much.” Read More
