2 – Disney and Marvel put Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Production on Hold

August 24, 2018 • Production for third installment in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has been put on hold, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Following Disney’s firing of James Gunn, who directed and wrote the first two Guardians films, over 10-year-old joke tweets, the movie’s fate has been up in the air. Now, it appears that its eventual filming is in a greater state of flux, as crew members who were prepping for pre-production in the fall have been told they’re free to take other work. THR sources describe the move as “temporary,” designed more as a “regrouping” for Disney and Marvel. 3 – Disney Offers to Pay Tuition for 80,000 Hourly Workers

August 22, 2018 • The Walt Disney Co. is offering to pay full tuition for hourly workers who want to earn a college degree, finish a high school diploma or learn a new skill, the entertainment giant said Wednesday. As many as 80,000 hourly workers in the United States could be eligible for the program, which pays upfront tuition for employees taking online classes starting this fall. Read More

4 – Disney to Sell Early Morning Starts to Toy Story Land

August 24, 2018 • Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park visitors can start their day ahead of the crowds at Toy Story Land via a new early-access program sold by Walt Disney World. The “Early Morning Magic” event becomes available on select mornings beginning Sept. 17. Participants will have access to the land’s Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster, Alien Swirling Saucers ride and various photo ops before the park opens to the general public. 5 – Zendaya Is Rumored To Play Ariel In Disney’s Live-Action The Little Mermaid

August 23, 2018 • Here’s an exciting new update on the Little Mermaid live-action movie that we’ve been waiting all our lives for: Zendaya is rumored to have been offered the lead role of Ariel. Emphasis on rumored—i.e. you should take this with a whole handful of salt—but still, if this ends up being true, it’s just one more reason to be desperate for Disney’s remake to finally come out already. Per That Hashtag Show, “a source close to” Disney let slip that the offer has been made to Zendaya. Both Disney and Zendaya’s reps declined to comment to the outlet. Read More
