1 – Disney’s $71 Billion Fox Bid Backed by Influential Proxy Firms
July 13, 2018 • Walt Disney Co.’s $71 billion deal with 21st Century Fox Inc. won the endorsement of influential proxy advisers Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. and Glass Lewis & Co., giving the entertainment giant another edge over rival suitor Comcast Corp. Both firms recommended that Fox shareholders vote in favor of the transaction during a July 27 investor meeting, with Glass Lewis arguing that Disney offered “a unique, prospectively far-reaching opportunity” to capitalize on the acquisition. Disney is vying with Comcast to acquire a prized collection of Fox entertainment assets that includes the 20th Century Fox film and TV studios. Read More
2 – ‘Disney Princess Newborns’ Reunite for 1st Birthday
July 14, 2018 • A California photographer and six babies came together to recreate a photo shoot that went viral last year. In 2017, photographer Karen Marie dressed up six newborns as Disney princesses, including Jasmine, Belle, Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White and Ariel. Marie’s company Belly Beautiful Portraits posted the photo on its Facebook page. It received more than 17 million views, and even landed a spot with Babble and Disney itself. Read More
3 – New Disneyland App to Play While You’re Waiting in Line
July 11, 2018 • It’s entirely possible that, sometime in your life, you’ve stood in a grueling line at Disneyland. What, you say, just yesterday? Well, here’s a fun thing to do: Download the new Play Disney Parks mobile app and amuse yourself while you’re there. According to Disney, some 60 percent of visitors are already using the regular Disneyland app, which does a generally good job of organizing the day, checking wait times and even ordering food in advance. 4 – New Details Reveal the ‘Star Wars’ Hotel at Walt Disney World Will Have Special Access
July 6, 2018 • Fans staying at Walt Disney World’s Star Wars hotel will have their own route to the park. According to permits filed with the South Florida Water Management District, the Orlando Sentinel reports, guests of the new hotel will be able to make a short drive from the Hollywood Studios’ parking lot over a drainage canal to get to the main hotel entrance. 5 – This New Cupcake at Walt Disney World will be Blowing Up Your Instagram this Summer
July 9, 2018 • If there’s one thing Disney food fans can’t seem to get enough of, it’s cupcakes. Now there’s brand-new cupcake to add to your cupcake-till-you’re-in-a-food-coma list. It’s called the Iridescent and it’s available at the Contempo Café at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. “Good Morning America” got an exclusive look at how the cupcake comes to life before it was available to the public.
