Disney Features from PAX West 2018
August 31-September 3, 2018 – Disney Adulting visited the Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle, WA to attend PAX West to enjoy all there is to the world of gaming. While we were there, we spotted some amazing new things from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars. However, the hero of this year’s PAX for the Disney franchise was (of course) the much anticipated Kingdom Hearts III from Square Enix.
Kingdom Hearts III Releasing January 29, 2018
Kingdom Hearts III is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Concepts for the game began as early as 2006 after the release of Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix in Japan, with the game not confirmed to be in development until E3 2013 after years of rumors and speculation. Kingdom Hearts III sees many returning gameplay features from the series while expanding parties to five characters total, introducing new “Attraction Flow” attacks that incorporate various Disney Parks attractions, and mini-games inspired by classic Walt Disney Productions Mickey Mouse cartoons in the style of 1980s LCD games. The game was built using Unreal Engine 4 and is scheduled to be released worldwide on January 29, 2019.
A Storyline Continued
Game director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 3 will pick up the storyline immediately after the ending of Dream Drop Distance, acting as the penultimate chapter in the Dark Seeker Saga. Through the power of friendship, Sora, Donald and Goofy unite with iconic Disney-Pixar characters old and new to overcome tremendous challenges and persevere against the darkness threatening their worlds.
Kingdom Hearts III Gameplay at PAX West 2018
The gameplay of Kingdom Hearts III is roleplaying but feels much like a high-action RGP. You’ll find yourself switching between different keyblades mid-battle and leveling them up to unlock more powerful moves with each successive hit.
Created to Please Both the Gamer & Disney Fan
The whole game looks phenomenal and the even the play manages to surpass the CG masterpieces that inspired them with bright, fluid animations and gorgeous cutscenes that you’d expect from Disney movies and Square Enix games with each world being an exceptionally detailed and faithful setting from the movies they are set in. It’s a Disney affectionado’s dream come true.
