2 – Disney Plans to Eliminate Plastic Straws From Theme Parks by Mid-2019
July 26, 2018 • Mickey Mouse will still be able to share a soda with Minnie, but they won’t be sipping from plastic straws. Walt Disney is joining the fight against them. The entertainment and theme park giant will eliminate single-use plastic straws and stirrers at all of its theme parks, resorts and properties around the world by mid-2019, it announced Thursday. 4 – Disney Picks Up Live-Action Fairytale About Young African Princess
July x, 2018 • Disney’s next project will feature an African princess for the first time. The new live-action fairtytale, “Sadé,” will reportedly follow the young heroine as she attempts to save her kingdom’s people using newly discovered magical powers. According to Deadline, “Dope” director Rick Famuyiwa will produce the film. Ola Shokunbi and Lindsey Reed Palmer — the duo who originally pitched the idea — will write the screenplay. Read More
5 – Guy Fieri Is Opening Up a Restaurant at Disney World
July 25, 2018 • On Wednesday, Walt Disney World announced plans to open Chicken Guy!, a fast-casual restaurant from Food Network star Guy Fieri, at Disney Springs in Orlando. It will serve as the original flagship location of what will eventually be a restaurant chain that serves up chicken tenders every which way—grilled or fried, in a sandwich, on a skewer, or in a salad. There will also be 22 different sauce options (one being Fieri’s signature “donkey sauce,” presumably), and a “sauce slinger” who roams the restaurant with a holster full of condiments. Read More
