3 – “Christopher Robin” Box Office: Disney’s Winnie The Pooh Nabs Okay $25M Weekend

August 5, 2018 • Walt Disney’s Christopher Robin was, by default, the biggest new movie over this crowded weekend. But, as always, it’s the raw grosses and not the rank that matters. The Marc Forster-directed family melodrama, starring Ewan McGregor as an adult Christopher Robin who reencounters Winnie the Pooh and his animal friends during a pivotal moment, earned a completely okay $25 million following a $9.5m opening day. That includes $1.5m in Thursday previews. With an A from Cinemascore, if it is as leggy as Pete’s Dragon (which had no Thursday previews two summers ago) then we’re looking at an $88m domestic total.  If it plays like The BFG, then it’ll be closer to a$73m domestic finish. Read More
