What is a Nendoroid?

The Nendoroid (ねんどろいど nendoroido) series is a brand of plastic figures created by the Japanese Good Smile Company in 2006. They typically depict characters from anime, manga or video games and are designed in a “chibi” style with a large head and smaller body to give them a cute appearance. The adorable palm-sized figures have featured Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars character editions.

How to Start Collecting Disney Nendoroids

You’ll want to start by following the Good Smile Company (グッドスマイルカンパニー) (also known as GSC or Good Smile). GSC is a Japanese manufacturer of hobby products such as the Nendoroid and figma product lines, as well as scale figures. Keep an eye out for newly released and preorder opportunities, otherwise, you’ll have to source older editions of the collectibles from eBay and other marketplace websites. There are several editions that are rarer than others (ie: Minnie Mouse) and will take a larger investment in order to procure one, especially one still inside the box.

Disney Nendoroids

The Good Smile Company in partnership with Disney has a licensing agreement for Disney designs and has released the following figures within that collection:

Belle

From Disney’s animated feature film “Beauty and the Beast” comes a Nendoroid of Belle! She comes with two different face plates that both capture her personality and allows for all sorts of cute and fun poses!

The figure has been sculpted wearing the memorable yellow dress from the ballroom scene, which has been carefully converted into Nendoroid size and painted with great attention to detail. Combined with the two different face plates, the Nendoroid allows fans to create various different situations in Nendoroid size.

Optional parts include both Mrs. Potts and Chip, as well as the enchanted rose and the magic mirror that showed the Beast. A clear sheet featuring the Beast is also included together with a stand to display beside her. Be sure to add this adorable Disney Princess to your collection!

Minnie Mouse

Nendoroid Mickey Mouse was released to commemorate the 100th Nendoroid release, and now Minnie Mouse will also be joining the Nendoroid series to keep him company! She comes with various extras that were drawn up especially for her Nendoroid release, such as a dresser with lots of makeup goodies to help her get ready for the show – as well as a script, so she can check her lines before filming starts!

Chip and Dale are also included as extras, carrying some sound equipment to help out with the filming! Be sure to display her together with Mickey Mouse and recreate the world of Disney in Nendoroid size!

Mickey Mouse

Mickey Mouse – A character that is loved all over the world and holds the hearts of children and adults alike – and now he is joining the world of Nendoroids as the 100th Nendoroid!

Mickey comes complete with a Nendoroid sized film set, which includes a camera, a clapperboard, a megaphone and a director’s chair. Replaceable eyes are also included allowing you to change the direction Mickey is looking in. Be sure to add Disney’s favorite character to your Nendoroid collection!

Anna

From the hit film, ‘Frozen’ comes a rerelease of Nendoroid Anna, the younger sister who longs to reconnect with her sister Elsa! The cute freckles on her face have been faithfully included on her Nendoroid rendition, and the outfit she wears to keep the cold out has also been shrunk down into Nendoroid size! The cape, hat, and gloves are all removable, so you can also pose her simply wearing her dress with its adorable patterns!

She also comes with special parts that allow you to display her walking along with her hands behind her back! Olaf is also included in an alternate version wearing a hat and holding a cane, and she even comes with special hand parts to display her holding hands with Nendoroid Elsa! From the hit film, ‘Frozen’ comes a rerelease of the Nendoroid of the Arendelle Royal Family’s eldest daughter, Elsa! Her intricate dress has been carefully transformed into Nendoroid size, even including the faint yet beautiful snowflake patterns! She comes with three expressions including a cute smiling face, a sidelong glance with a smirk, and a singing face that looks ready to shout out ‘Let it Go!’ at any moment!

Olaf, the enchanted snowman with a love for Summer is also included with his comical expression from the series faithfully reproduced – his neck and arms are also articulated allowing you to recreate all sorts of fun scenes for the snowman too! Her articulated wings make use of translucent parts, and she also comes with a special stand and background sheet made in the image of her fairy dust to really bring out her pixie appearance!

She comes with three faceplates including a cheerful smile, a surprised expression with her eyes wide open as well as a gallant smile showing off her more tomboyish side. She also comes with a selection of optional parts including her weapon of choice – a frying pan, a beautiful tiara to display her as a true princess as well as painting tools and a lantern.

Rapunzel’s long, golden hair has been sculpted with intricate detail, featuring large and small braids as well as flower decorations. The connecting points of the braids feature moving parts allowing her hair to be placed in different positions to recreate your favorite scenes from the movie! Captain America: Hero’s Edition

From ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ comes a figure of the leader of the Avengers, Captain America! The fully articulated Nendoroid has been carefully sculpted and painted with his unique design and coloring based on the US flag, ensuring he looks impressive no matter what pose you choose to display him in!

His trademark shield can attach to his left or right arm using a special attachment, allowing you to choose which better suits your pose. The shield can also be placed on his back, which even allows him to balance without the need for a stand! Effect parts to display him throwing the shield are included adding, even more, play value!

In addition, the included stand is based on the final battle scene from the movie and can be combined with the base included with the previously released ‘Nendoroid Iron Man Mark 45: Hero’s Edition‘ in order to complete the full circular base – a large dioramic base that really brings out the atmosphere of the Avengers for fans to enjoy!

Iron Man Mark 42: Hero’s Edition + Hall of Armor Set

He comes with three faceplates that all capture his personality perfectly including a standard glaring expression, a condescending expression as well as the listless expression from his famous “surprise” line!

His iconic helm with two horns can be attached to the faceplates and he can also be displayed without the helm allowing for many different posing options! From the hit movie “Mighty Thor: Battle Royal” (Thor: Ragnarok in the US) comes a Nendoroid of the Mighty Thor himself! The Nendoroid is fully articulated similar to the previous characters in the “Edition” series, and features Thor with his hair cut short as he appeared in the movie!

He comes with three different face plates including a serious expression for heading into battle, a rather cute shouting expression as well as an expression with white eyes for when he uses his lightning powers. Optional parts include the new swords that featured in the movie, a club as well as his shield to recreate all sorts of scenes!

From the popular movie “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” comes a Nendoroid of BB-8! The head part is attached to a magnet that can easily be moved around into various positions just like in the movie, allowing you to display BB-8 showing all sorts of emotions from excitement to disappointment!

The antennae parts on his head are included in both a standard version and a bent version to display him as if rolling forward at full speed! His jet-black outfit has been faithfully shrunk down to Nendoroid size, with a mix of glossy and matte paintwork to bring out the different textures. His lightsaber is included and the blade can be attached and removed for various posing options. He also comes with parts to hold the lightsaber in both hands, or a single hand.

The Stormtrooper, one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe, is joining the Nendoroid series once again with a rerelease! The classic white armor of the Stormtrooper has been shrunk down to Nendoroid size while still keeping to the original design as faithfully as possible!

The standard Stormtrooper blaster rifle is also included to display him in combat against the Rebel army! You can also display him together with Nendoroid Darth Vader, who will be re-released at the same time!

What’s Next for Disney Nendoroid?

Good Smile Company rolled out a big new licensing agreement for their Nendoroid super-deformed line. Joining the likes of Star Wars, DC and Marvel design is Disney/Pixar with princesses, attractions, and blockbusters, including Winnie-the-Pooh, Ariel, Sulley & Boo, Mike & Boo, Jack Skellington, Jack Sparrow, Woody, Buzz, Tinker Bell, Rapunzel, and Belle.
