Hidden Easter Eggs in Disney Movies You Probably Missed

Disney movies are filled with tiny details and inside jokes that even the most eagle-eyed fans can miss. Here are some of the best hidden Easter eggs you may have overlooked in your favorite Disney classics.

The Pizza Planet Truck

The beat-up, rusty pizza delivery truck from Toy Story has appeared in multiple Disney and Pixar films. For example, you can spot it parked at the trailer park in A Bug’s Life, driving past during the epilogue of Cars, and even showing up in the background of a scene in Brave. It’s fun to try and find this iconic truck in every new movie.

Scar’s Spell

Here’s an ominous Easter egg from The Lion King. When Scar is singing “Be Prepared,” there’s a moment where he puffs up his mane, and clouds swirl behind him. Looking closely at the clouds, they spell out “SFX” as a nod to the movie’s visual effects department. It’s the creepy foreshadowing of the darkness Scar brings to the Pride Lands.

Hidden Mickeys

A classic Disney secret tradition is to hide images of Mickey Mouse heads throughout their parks and films. Some are easy to spot, like the three circles forming Mickey’s head in the snowy woods in Frozen. But others are so subtle you’ll miss them if you blink, like the tiny Mickey formed by hay bales in the barn scene of Toy Story. It’s fun to pause Disney movies and see how many Hidden Mickeys you can find!

A113

A113 is an inside joke referring to the classroom number many CalArts alumni, including John Lasseter and Brad Bird, studied animation. This number has entered numerous Disney and Pixar films, appearing on license plates, delivery boxes, room numbers, and more. For example, you can spot A113 on Andy’s mom’s license plate in Toy Story or on the door of the classroom where Helen teaches in The Incredibles.

Rapunzel’s Cameo

Long before she got her movie, Rapunzel from Tangled made an adorable cameo in Frozen. During the song “For the First Time in Forever,” you can spot Rapunzel and Flynn attending Elsa’s coronation. Meanwhile, Wreck-It Ralph appeared in the crowd at Calhoun and Felix’s wedding in Sugar Rush. Disney loves including these cross-over character cameos.

Boo’s Nemo Toy

In possibly the cutest Easter egg of all, the little girl Boo from Monsters Inc has a Nemo toy in her room. And in Finding Nemo, Nemo’s dad Marlin gets stuck in a little girl’s bedroom where Boo’s teddy bear sits on the bed. These Pixar movies were released only a year apart, perfecting this timing.

Disney films are worth rewatching to catch all these cleverly hidden details. Let me know in the comments if you’ve noticed any other good Easter eggs in Disney or Pixar movies!
