If you are anything like most Star Wars fans out there, you aren’t shuffling around and tweeting about anything other than the real star of the most recent film – enter the world’s most recent obsession, the Porg. They can fly, build nests, and their babies are called Porglets. We can’t even contain the cuteness overload these new little bundles of feathers and fluff have brought into our lives.
What is a Porg?
Inspired originally by puffins, the filmmakers observed these birds everywhere on the Irish island of Skellig Michael. Taking the adorable and playful nature of the puffin, the Porg was created. According to their backstory, Porgs are native to Ahch-To (the island of the Jedi temple) and can be found dwelling along the cliffs of the island where Luke and Rey are. In many ways, they’re the Star Wars version of puffins. They build nests. They can fly. Their babies are called Porglets.
