Disney Copycat Recipe: The Disney Corndog

If you’ve been to a Disney park there’s no avoiding one of those carts peddling those, fried to golden-brown perfectionDisney hand-dipped corndogs. There’s nothing more nostalgic than chowing down on a Disney corndog while you are waiting in line for your favorite attraction, the parade to start or while enjoying people watching while chilling out on a park bench. In fact, just in Disneyland and California Adventure over the course of a year, Disney sells more than 1 million corndogs in the parks.

What Makes the Disney Corndog Special?

Heck, I don’t even really like hot dogs, let along corndogs all that much. (I know, right?) However, the first bite into a Disney corndog will change your mind – just as it did mine. The secret is in the matter, and not so much the ingredients but the delicate way they are hand-dipped, ensuring a nice even layer of batter that’s not too thick or soggy. It makes for a corndog that’s perfectly golden and crunchy on the outside and sweet and delicious on the inside. Toss on some mustard, and you’ve got yourself a hand-dipped version of magic to enjoy.

The best corndog I’ve ever had.

How Can I Bring Disney Corndogs Home?

Making your own hand-dipped corndogs at home is easy and fun! There’s nothing better than a freshly fried dog, but they freeze just as good (if not better) than store-bought corndogs. The trick to reheating and getting that perfectly crispy outside is putting them on a baking sheet at around 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes. They will crisp up and still be pretty tasty, but still, the best way is right out of the fryer.

I soured around for the Disney corndog recipe (and taste-tested a few) and think that I’ve finally reached, hands down, the best possible recipe out there. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s make some corndogs!
