1 – Disney Just Released Drone Video of the New Star Wars Park and It’s Going to Be Massive

March 8, 2018 • The long-awaited Star Wars Land is coming to Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort in 2019, and Disney has just released a new sneak peek of how construction on the site is coming along. Disney representatives have released a new flyover video that takes you over the construction site of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. I read it over and over, then tracked down the sequels and gobbled up many more of Madeleine L’Engle’s fantasy- and science fiction-tinged novels for young adults. But I hadn’t touched it in more than 20 years, maybe closer to 30, when the excitement began to build around a new Disney adaptation directed by Ava Duvernay. 3 – Disney’s ‘Black Panther’ Reaches $1 Billion Globally

March X, 2018 • Disney’s megahit “Black Panther” has passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office. The studio said Saturday that the milestone is based on Disney’s estimate of ticket sales. The announcement comes on the 26th day of release for the blockbuster. The movie is directed by Ryan Coogler and stars Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan. Disney notes that “Black Panther” is the fifth film in its Marvel universe to reach the milestone. The others are “The Avengers,” ‘’Avengers: Age of Ultron,” ‘’Iron Man 3,” and “Captain America: Civil War.” The film has made $521 million domestically, becoming the No. 2 superhero release of all time, surpassing “The Dark Knight.” Read More

4 – James Pitaro, a Disney Digital Veteran, is Named ESPN President

March 5, 2018 • The Walt Disney Company has picked James Pitaro, the chairman of its consumer products and interactive division, to be the next president of ESPN. He replaces John Skipper in what is perhaps the most powerful post in sports media.“Jimmy forged his career at the intersection of technology, sports and media, and his vast experience and keen perspective will be invaluable in taking ESPN into the future,” Robert A. Iger, the chairman and chief executive of Disney, said Monday in a statement announcing Pitaro’s appointment. Read More

5 – This New Disney Cruise From Rome Will Be the Most Magical Way to See Italy

March 8, 2018 • Soon, Disney fans will be able to see Italy and Southern Europe in a more magical way than ever before. Starting in the summer of 2019, Disney Cruise Line will be launching its first-ever roundtrip cruise route starting from the port of Civitavecchia, a town near Rome, Italy. The first voyage begins on June 14 with stops in Italy, France, and Spain.
